COASTAL GAME FARM

Description:
The farm has 1 title deed, and is 150 ha in extent. It boasts a grazing capacity of 1-3.5 ha/LSU, which is amongst the highest in the province. There is also a wide variety of vegetation for browsing.

This small area of the province between Gamtoos River and the Hankey off ramp is one of the prettiest pieces of real estate in the area. Comprising a series of high plateaus and valley gorges it has truly outstanding views of the coastline around Kabeljous/Jeffreys Bay to the south, and the Baviaans and Tsitsikamma mountains to the north and west.

Veld types:
The farm is made up of a combination of sweet thorn, grassveld and denser Cape valley bushveld. The almost ideal combination of browse and graze are testified to by the incredible species diversity found on the property, including 22 kudu which are breeding well and are in excellent condition.

Grass species found include Digitaria Smutsii, Eriantha, perennial Pannicums, Themedia Triandra and Cynodon Dactylon. Together with the high rainfall and fertile soils, this makes excellent grazing grass throughout the year.

Rainfall:
The farm falls in a transition summer/winter rainfall area, with an average of 70mm p/a.

Game:
Mountain reedbuck, blesbuck, zebra, duiker, kudu, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala, impala, bushbuck, caracal and reedbuck.

Improvments:
A 2,4 high game fence encloses the entire property. There is a 600 sqm shed, a corner of which has been converted to a 1 bedroom flat.

Also 4 earth dams, 2 concrete dams, one of which is fed constantly with treated water from the test pipe of the PE water supply reservoir on the adjacent farm. A 5000 l tank supplies water to the house. Power is supplied from a 50kv Eskom transformer.

It is 25 km from the popular coastal town of Jeffreys Bay, and 58 km from the PE airport, and within 10 minutes of the coast at the Gamtoos River mouth.
